About this Blog

Bridging Ideas, Driving Change

The International Council on Human Rights Policy (ICHRP) provides a forum for applied research, reflection and forward thinking, grappling with the challenge of translating universal human rights principles into policy realities. Since 1998, the ICHRP has strengthened human rights advocacy through applied policy research and knowledge generation in over 30 key areas of global public policy. (See more about us.)

The ICHRP Human Rights Policy Blog is an informal platform for commentary and critical thinking on human rights challenges, especially as they relate to the policies of governments (both local and national), international organisations and non-governmental organisations. We focus primarily on the critical human rights themes on which ICHRP research is currently concentrated, and we tag posts by these issues and other overarching, cross-cutting issues.

This blog is designed as a collective exploration of these themes and issues in the context of current events, connecting our cutting-edge research to current human rights developments and challenges. The posts are intended as conversation starters – an avenue towards a greater discussion, and not the final word on any issue presented.

Please comment regularly or contribute your own articles, images or other media while you follow the discussion.

Over the next few months while the conversation will gradually take its form with regularly updated content, the formatting and functionality of the blog will be in a regular state of flux as we continue to upgrade our blogging tools.
