We gladly accept submissions for posts. Articles for publication should be concise (800 words maximum) with an intelligent but clear tone, not heavily reliant upon jargon or needless complexity. First time contributors should submit a 30- to 40-word mini biography that will accompany the article as well as a headshot or avatar image (in jpeg format) if they wish. Links cross-referencing relevant works, especially those of blog contributors, are encouraged when relevant to the article. Submit your article to communication@ichrp.org.
Readers are also encouraged to comment, and authors in turn will strive to engage with analyses or critiques of their work. Comments will be publicly displayed on the blog, mildly moderated to discourage rude behaviour and offensive language. All readers are encouraged, where feasible, to identify themselves and where they live to provide context to their contributions.
Posts should engage questions of human rights and policy and be relevant to the themes and issues on which we work. Articles selected for publication will generally fit into one of the following editorial categories:
- Newsdesk – A general explanation of new developments, particularly those with a significant human rights and/or policy impact and relating to current local, national or global events.
- Analysis – A reflection upon new and emerging trends, laws or policies with a deeper, rounded look at their genesis and/or potential implications.
- Opinion and Commentary – Critique and recommendations on human rights law and/or policy from one author’s perspective.
- Debate – A conversation between authors with diverging viewpoints.
- Features – A space to showcase special contributions or the relevant work of partner organizations.
- Policy Spotlight – Explanation and analysis of specific laws or policies with significant human rights impact (good or bad).
Note that opinions expressed are those of authors and do not necessarily reflect the positions of the ICHRP or the organisations those authors represent.
